About Us

The Marquette County John Muir Nature and History Route was developed by the Wisconsin Friends of John Muir and the Marquette County Historical Society with help from the Montello Historic Preservation Society, Muirland Bird Club, and the Marquette County Chapter of the Ice Age Trail. It is made available by Marquette County Board of Supervisors and the Rural Planning and Parks Committee of the County Board. The Marquette County Land and Water Conservation Department maintains the signs and the Wisconsin DNR, Endeavor Village Board, City of Montello, Town of Buffalo, Town of Springfield, Long Branch Saloon, Village of Neshkoro, Natural Heritage Land Trust and others provide permission for the signs. It is a "living" project that will be updated and added to as time goes by so come back and visit us often.
